Dave Miller's GTV6 Problems

Dave,

You've got to find out what's going on inside the engine when you
experience your stumbling/stalling symptoms. Since it happens with the O2
sensor connected or disconnected, I suggest letting the car get hot, so
that the symptoms occur, and then watch the (disconnected) O2 sensor output
using a VOM.
If you see it going very lean or very rich, you'll have some direction to
follow. Pulling a plug for a reading after the symptoms occur wouldn't be
a bad idea either--again, looking to see how things are burning in there.
Since the symptoms seem to occur only at high coolant temps, make some
careful measurements of the coolant temp sensor using a VOM. At 175
degrees, you should measure between 200 and 400 ohms. At higher temps, you
should measure below 200 ohms. A bad connection to this sensor will cause
the system to go very rich.
