Milano Front Parking Lights

My son has an 89 Milano. We purchased a replacement
lamp assembly for the driver front parking light( old
unit lost its lens). We have been attempting to remove
the old assembly with no success. We have the CD ROM
workshop manual but it does not address this problem.
Any suggestions on how to remove the old assembly
would be greatly appreciated.
