V6 2.5L engine questions

I have a couple of dumb questions about the 2.5L V6 engine, and I would 
appreciate anybody who can answer them:

1) For the purposes of rebuilding, will the engine bolt to a standard 
engine stand (such as from Pep Boys)?

2) I've seen references to a "2.8" rebuild for the 2.5L engine.  What 
exactly is this?  Does it give better horsepower and/or /performance than a 
3 liter?
