Forgive me if I am a bit late on this thread. The mirror switch is easily
removable as noted. The source of my problems was spilt fluid by a previous
owner that filled the switch with "gunk". I pulled the switch apart, cleaned
the contacts with steel wool, put a thin wipe of Vaseline over everything
and re-assembled. It has worked fine ever since.
