You might be thinking of "Micromesh", which is marketed for restoring
aircraft windows.  Kit is available for about $25 from Sporty's Pilot Shop
(1-800-LIFTOFF).  I've seen it in woodworking catalogs as well.

I remember awhile back that someone had mentioned a product useful for
polishing small scratches out of the plastic windows in convertible
tops, but I can't seem to find the post.  Anybody out there know, or
have suggestions?
