no spark on 1985 alfa spider

Thanks to everyone who had suggestions on the problem with my spider.
It turned out it was the rpm sensor on the flywheel. The easiest place
to test these is at the firewall near the windshield washer
reservoir. the cars have two sensors, both are identical and both need
to work for the car to run. At this location the sensors have a
connector with three pins. The right pin is the shield (gnd) the
center and the left should have about 1Kohm across them. My burned out
sensor was nearly open (1Mohm). I was not able to find an alfa sensor
(not even at the Alfa warehouse) so what I did was go down to my local
european car parts house and look through their inventory until I
found a sensor that looked like the alfa's evil twin (it had the 666,
oops I mean Bmw brand on it but otherwise was identical) and the car
runs beautiful. I will post the bmw part number if there is interest
(there should probably be some cross reference FAQ somewhere for these
things). Once again, thanks everyone for your assistance.

ciao

ps. luke I'll trade your 164 for my fullsize Bronco ;-)
