late model spider/duetto trim rings/headlight cover update

a while back i recommended duetto trim rings as an alternative trim solution
for headlight covers on later (post duetto) spiders. somebody contacted me
off-line and mentioned that he was under the impression that the duetto trim
rings couldn't be used on certain model spiders from the mid 80's. there
was also a comment about there not being some hardware on the fenders to
allow mounting of the headlight hardware behind the fender.

well, i finally got around to trying a set of duetto trim rings on an '86
spider, and they work just fine. they install exactly the way the stock
trim rings install, the headlight hardware remains mounted from the front,
and there is plenty of room for the headlight covers (although the '86 i was
playing with did not have slots for the tabs on the headlight covers, so i
didn't go so far as to install them).

i'm assuming that the comment about late model spiders not having hardware
to facilitate mounting the headlight hardware from behind only concerns
those who wish to install the small trim rings that come with the headlight
covers. for those, the duetto trim rings should solve your problem. they
also look a lot nicer than the smaller trim rings, imho.
