Strange Speedo

Here's the problem. While cruising on the interstate at 80mph, I encountered a work zone and had to slow down to 60mph for about 20 miles. After about 10 miles the speedo dropped to zero. It stayed there until I got off at the next exit and then it worked fine all the way home (another 50 miles). Any Ideas?
