engine stand
I too have one of those cheapie Harbor Freight-type engine stands. What a
lot of people do to adapt them to four-cylinder Alfa engines is have a
custom adapter mount made that bolts to one of the three-stud motor mount
pads on the side of the block. This allows great access to the clutch,
flywheel, and rear of the crank. The piece is basically a heavy tube that
fits into the socket on the engine stand, with holes in the tube to accept
the stand's locking pin, with a flat triangular piece welded to the end that
matches the motor mount pad on the block. Norman Racing made one for me in
about a half hour. It needs to be pretty stout material.
