Are MG's cheaper?

Quite the contrary. Most Alfa's are cheap compared to MG's in the U.S.
Here is data from Sports Car Market's Pocket Price Guide, using the
average of their high and low prices. The cheap end is between 68-74,
chrome-bumper, non-wire-wheel, O/D MGB's ($5250) and 70-74 Kamm-tailed
Spiders ($5250), or 82-84 Spiders ($4250) -- no advantage to MG here.
Look at a non-wire-wheel, MGA 1500 roadster ($15,000) compared to a
Duetto ($11,000). A 750 Giulietta Normale ($7000) compared to a TD
($16,000) or TF 1250($15,750) is a teriffic bargain. An MGA Twincam
($17,750) is just about a push with a 750 Giulietta Veloce ($18,500).

Although many of us may disagree with SCM's prices (I do), arguing that
the MG prices are sometimes too high, that still doesn't make MG's cheap
compared to ALFA's. Not only are ALFA's cheap compared to many MG's on
an dollar basis, but when you compare preformance and features, ALFA's
are a "steal." Even parts costs are not particularly cheaper on the MG
side (try funding an MGA Twincam engine rebuild).
