Unleaded gas, additives and valve seats

Guy Benveniste is concerned about the effect of unleaded fuel on a carbureted
1972 GT Veloce 2000, and wonders if some kind of fuel additive might be
helpful; Lawrence Leong suggests investigating hardened valve seats.

Totally unnecessary. The car has the same valve seats as later unleaded-only
cars. His Owner's Manual says to use a minimum of 87 octane fuel (P.O.N., the
number posted by law on USA station pumps, equivalent to 91 octane R.O.N.).
Unless he has a non-stock higher compression engine, that is sufficient; any
good brand of gas should be fine without additional additives.
