Restoring Duetto: stainless "chrome"

Having fun getting my well-driven '67 Duetto back to native pride.
Glassurit paint came close to the original "Rosso Montecatino," but
I've had no luck putting gleam back on the stainless bumpers and trim.
Should these pieces be chromed...or have I just been missing the right
polishing compound...or?

Any suggestions appreciated.
