pretty unlikely (in the USA anyhow) our vehicles will be
bothered. A woman in AROSC previously had two Corvettes -- both
stolen -- and many Alfas including some really terrific ones (TZ)
and as far as I know, nary a problem with crooks over many years.

In a recent article "Where Not To Park Your Car" by Pat Hayes
published in "The Redline," AROC Orange County, he cites a study
by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), that lists the
top ten metropolitan areas for car theft based on 1997 figures.
Metropolitan area Total thefts Theft rate*
1. Miami FL 33,968 37.9
2. Jersey City NJ 5,971 41.0
3. Fresno CA 10,440 49.7
4. Memphis TN 13,855 50.4
5. New York NY 56,185 52.3
6. Tucson AZ 8,874 52.6
7. Phoenix-Mesa AZ 32,529 53.1
8. Albuquerque NM 9,093 55.6
9. Sacramento CA 18,516 57.9
10. New Orleans LA 15,027 58.7
*As an explanation of the table: Memphis TN ranks 4th on
the list. In all, 13,855 vehicles were stolen in the Memphis area
in 1997. One of every 50.4 registered vehicles in the Memphis
metropolitan area was stolen, according to the NICB.
Pat comments, "With around one third of all stolen cars never =
recovered, they point out that it is no coincidence that the =
majority of these areas are close to a port or border. According to
them, the estimated total annual cost of auto theft in the U.S.
is about 7 billion dollars."
In terms of individual Alfa models stolen in the ENTIRE US in 1997:
Model Rank Total number stolen
164 486 19
Spider 499 15
Milano 533 9
GTV6 605 4
