Air Flow Meter Repair

I wish I could show you illustrations but lacking that, I'll lave to
describe as best I can. The valve rubs on the upper side of the unit and
the bearing up there is loose enough for the coil spring to draw the shaft
upward. Remove the black cover usind a sharp razor type tool, don't break
it. Remove the socket via the 4 phillips screws, you'll have to lift off
two wires carefully with long nose pliers. Remove the printed circuit
board. Mark the position of the black plastic wheel so you can orient it
correctly when it's replaced. Remove the screw that holds the spring wheel
in place. The wheel will unwind. Loosen the bolt that clamps the armature
to the shaft and lift the armature off. It is keyed so don't worry about
how it goes back on. You will see a locking ring that holds a flat washer
and coil spring in place. Remove the circlip and the washer and spring. put
everything back except the coil spring. The valve will now be free as a
bird and will operate as good or better than original. I hope you find this
procedure easy enough to do, I did. Good luck, Fred Di Matteo PS, let me
know if you feel comfortable doing this procedure.
