Was Best Diagnosis --



This is the '86 spider with holes in the distributor cap.
Thanks to everyone for the help so far.

The distributor's bushing is clearly gone.  so I discovered that Alfa of
Tacoma has a distributor in stock (compared to having it back ordered
elsewhere).  BUT as people suggested, I pulled the spark plugs so I could
turn the engine and the top slot of the oil pump shaft does NOT turn when it
should.

Could be the gear on the oil pump.  Could be the drive gear on the front of
the crankshaft.  Could be the key or whatever drive the drive gear with the
crankshaft.  Regardless, it appears I need to:
    1.  Drain and remove radiator.
    2.  Drain and remove oil pans.
    3.  Remove belts and remove the crank nut and pulley
    4.  Remove the front cover.

This will get me to both the oil pump and the oil pump drive gear on the
crankshaft.

Identify the damaged part(s), replace, and reinstall with lots of new
gaskets.  Be very very concerns to get the oil pump and distributor on so
that the timing lines up.

Am I missing anything ?

ALSO, apparently I have to drill out the screw holding the clamp around the
distributor to install the new one.  So do people really get a new
"shearing" screw for this or is it accepted practice to use a suitable bolt?
