this is the first i've heard of different upper control arms. i'd bet money
that the ones in the '72 are the same as the ones in the later cars. when
you order new control arms you don't have to specify which model year
they're for.

I have the upper control arms from a 67 Duetto, a 74 Spider and an 84
spider on my workbench at this very moment. All three are IDENTICAL, except
that the 67 uses lock nuts rather than nylock on the bolts connecting the two
halfs of the upper arm.
