Well-known Spider Tweaks?

I'm about to start doing some mods on my
'88 Graduate and would like to learn from
the considerable experience here on the
digest. What are the most common/best
known/proven tweaks/upgrades? 

I know that the mods are endless, and
really depend on what you want to do.
The goal is to get better street handling,
potentially getting ready for scca solo.
I'm thinking more along the lines of brakes
(the whole system), suspension, tires
and maybe chassis stiffener. I'm not thinking
of any engine work (at this time), nor
welding in a roll bar, etc.

Also, any common "while this is off we should
get to this" kind of advice? The car has about
33,000 miles on it, so I'd like to get anything
that normally fails around 35-40,000.

Pointers to sites are welcome - I wasn't able
to find anything directly related.
