Ignition Switch? Solenoid?

I posted to the AD about a problematic starter solenoid a while back and
received many helpful responses. Now I have replaced said solenoid with
what I know to be a near new unit and am experiencing the opposite problem.
That is, while the solenoid would not disengage before, now it won't always
engage. My starter will spin when I turn the key, but only now and then
will it engage with the ring gear. It seems that a little jiggling of the
key in the ignition switch will get it to engage enventually, but it could
be that some other random process inside the solenoid is at work and my key
manipulations are unrelated.

What is the diagnosis, solenoid or switch? If switch, does anyone know of a
source of NOS Nieman switches for an LHD 69 GT?

Thanks,
