Alternator acting up

Hi,

    When I first replaced the extrenally regulated alternator with a newer,
internally regulated unit, the warning light went out with the first good
rev of the engine and stayed out thereafter. Lately the light will come back
on as the revs drop and increase in intensity the lower the RPMs go. The car
seems to be getting enough of a charge, no matter what the load. What's the
story?
