Spica pump, gas in oil & why
When I bought my first Spica equipped Spider, I was told never to run out
of fuel and to keep the tank abouve the reserve level. "Why" I asked, the
reply was, "because the gas is a lubricant as well as a coolant for those
little pistons that deliver gas to the injectors at over 400psi. They are
made as close to perfect fit as possible, so a tiny bit of wear lets gas
escape into the oil system. Don't run short and if you do, SHUT down PDQ.
