Re: Borrani Wheels for '63 2600 Sprint?

To partly answer Ray Lepera's query on changing his 2600 from drum to
disc rear brakes, I would ask another question.
Why?
There was a trend to convert to discs in the early sixties but mainly
for the prestige of "state of the art braking".
Alfa Romeo went along this direction also, but more to reduce costs -
the Giulia 101 series front discs were cheaper & inferior to the earlier
3-shoe drum set-up.
Parts to convert or overhaul the 2600 rear disc system are considerably
more expensive than for the drum system. 2x discs, 2x calipers with 3x
pistons each, 1x pad set, 1x parking brake shoe set, parking brake
adjusters.........
Also, discs may be more likely to seize up during periods of non-use.
My advice is to leave the drums alone & keep the car original.
Of course I would be pleased to supply parts but I'm also keen on
originality.........

government, next stop independance? So for me "UK" becomes "England"!
