The 3M protective film is known as "Rhino Skin" available from
your friendly 3M Industrial Tapes Div rep (don't ask me for a 
contact, I'm in Singapore!  Unless you're a local too).

great for protecting watch faces (gauge covers etc) especially 
if you're into lobster hunting :-)
