Interesting story about Mr. Yunick... (taken from NASCAR encyclopedia)

Mr. Yunick was called up before one race during the 60s and told that
his car had failed tech inspection. Mr. Yunick was quite incensed, much
yelling and swearing was apparently involved over the phone when he was
informed. Mr. Yunick showed up later that day still fuming and
protesting innocence very forcefully. Again, much yelling and swearing
was apparently involved while he was protesting his innocence. Mr.
Yunick quite dramatically got into his failed car and drove away.

What he did not know was that the NASCAR technicians had removed the gas
tank to his car. Smokey was driving away on the gas he had secreted in
the car's frame. 

Busted.
