GTV wheel/tire choices

I am purchasing a 1973 GTV 2000 for use in time trials and vintage racing.
Have two questions about wheel and tire choices.	

1. Plans are to use 195/55-14 or 225/50-14 tires on Panasport 14x7 wheels with
17-20mm offset. The suspension may get lowered 1"-2".  Anyone have any
experience or opinions on this set-up for the track?  Could fender clearance
be a problem?

2.  Panasport choices are the FS, "street" wheel, or the Superlight, a
lighter, racing wheel.  The difference is about 1-1/2 lb per wheel.  Anyone
running the FS on the track?  Have they been satisfactory?
