Leaking Steering Box

I have a leaking steering box, ie, upon filling it with oil, the oil 
leaks out from the bottom.  I was told this could be a bad rubber gasket 
somewhere at the bottom of the unit.  How do I get that bottom end off 
the box to replace the gasket?  Does the steering linkage have to be 
disconnected to do this?  Thanks again for all your help.  Samantha E.
