'89 Spider needs a light switch (steering column)

I am having a problem with the switch within the steering column that
controls the tail lights on my '89 Spider. Basically, they don't come on
when I turn the light stalk forward to turn the headlights on. Nor do the
instrument lights. But I'm 99.9% certain that the problem is in the wiring
or connection within the steering column.
The mechanism for the turn signals seems to be housed within a single,
"doughnut"-shaped, unit that slides over the steering column (once the
steering wheel is off). This assembly seems riveted together, meaning I
wouldn't be able to get inside it to "fix" it anyway, although a helpful
gentleman at IAP told me that some people drill them out, which I may end
up trying to do.
If I manage to get inside, not only is electrical stuff beyond my ken, but
if there's a broken piece inside rather than a bad connection, I'm stuck
anyway.
So, I'm looking for a source for a used unit. Any Spider from '88 - on will
do. I'm in Los Angeles, by the way.
Sorry for the na=EFvet=E9, any help would be appreciated,
