Re: Spider Wheel pattern

In AD7-488 Zack asked about the bolt pattern is for a spider?? and Henrik H
Johansen replied that the bolt pattern is 4 X 98mm. This is correct if it is a
front-wheel-drive Spider; from the Alfetta on the 98 mm bolt pattern, with
either four or five bolts according to the engine size, has been standard. The
bolt pattern for the rear-wheel-drive Spider, and all other 115/105/101/750
Alfa coupes and sedans, is 108 mm.

Cars which share the same 108 mm four bolt pattern, according to a 1996 digest
posting by Ron Lotton, include 1986 Acura Legend, 1980-87 Audi 5000 CS,
1985-87 Audi 4000 and Coupe GT, and 924 Porsche. In addition there are several
four-bolt Fords and Mercurys, as well as a 1987 Nissan, which use a 4.25" bolt
circle which works out to 107.95 mm, which many people have found works out
close enough if you draw the nuts down evenly; .025 mm on either side is
passable. Some of the wheels may have other problems with hub clearances,
and/or offsets. These off-brand wheels are of interest mainly to people who
want wide rubber for autocrossing, but the Acura, Audi and Porsche 924 are 14
x 6 rims.

Cromodora, Campagnolo, and BWA have made aftermarket wheels for Alfas with the
108 mm circle and correct offsets, and Alfa Ricambi, perhaps others, have
imported appropriate wheels in the past, but there can be problems if you want
to find a duplicate to replace damaged wheel when the last ones of that
pattern came in twenty years ago.

Panasports are available to fit anything.

Best bets are Alfa wheels; the Turbina, the early Daytona (rare), the late
Daytona, and the Phone-Dial from the Quadrifoglios.
