I had the same problem on my 71 GTV.  I bought a new Bosch distributer from
Centerline Alfa and am quite happy with it.  There's no points to adjust and 2
wires on either side of the coil are the only electrical hookups.  These units
have adjustable advances, and Centerline gives them a very nice curve.  I
bought it last year, and I think it was around $200US.    I have no financial
interest, etc.
