I just solved the same problem on my recently acquired 87 Milano. The
ground connectors on both rear light assemblies were corroded. Unplug the
white connectors at the tail light assembly and clean them. Ground wire is
the black wire. I also added new ground to each assembly from black wire to
the nuts holding taillight assembly to body.
