Re:cam lobe wear..... Dick's car & Synthetic oil

Abe, Dick, and Digesti:
When my timing belt broke on my '87 Gold Milano at 40K miles, those
doing the head work and repair found damaged (soft) cam lobes. They were
told this was not an uncommon problem with the early Milanos.  Got some
new cams to go with the valves under the 5 year 50K mi. extended
warranty.
Might be a characteristic of the same run of cams?
