Spider Flex Disk (Giubo) Results, OR: Donuts'n'Nuts

Hi,

At last report I had just received a replacement transmission-to-driveshaft
donut that had holes that were too narrow for the bolts. The vendor shipped me
another one, same problem. I decided to visit my local ASP (Alfa Service
Provider)(Wes Ingram) who had one in stock, this in different packaging-- the
familiar orange/black Ricambi bag. We test-fitted the holes with the correct
bolt and it fit. It was tight, but the bolts entered all the holes. Cost $10
more than the mail-order one. Lessons learned: 1) Specify Alfa original
replacement parts where possible. 2) Buy from local ASP where you can try
before you buy when possible. It lowers anxiety levels.

NOW: I did not diagram how the bolts/washers/nuts came apart because I thought
it was going to be a quick R/R instead of dragging on for a week. Now I
forgot. There are 6 bolts, 6 nylon locking (nylox? The kind with the nylon
insert) nuts, and 3 washers. The bolts are easy-- heads towards the front,
threads towards the rear. But where are the washers supposed to go? Between
the transmission triangle yoke and the donut? Between the donut and the
driveshaft triangle yoke? Or just inside the nuts that fasten the donut to the
transmission triangle yoke, sandwiched between the rear of the donut and said
nuts?

Logically, the different mounting positions would have varying effects on pre-
stressing the donut, and possibly the end of the transmission tailshaft (the
"olive") and pilot bushing that fits inside the extreme front of the front
driveshaft.

Obviously, fun as it was, with new driveline components (u-joints, support
bearing, support, balanced driveshaft, flex disk) I am looking to avoid having
to take it all apart again for more repairs in the near or even medium-distant
future.

Thank You!
