Re: Sliding Blocks, Watts Linkage, etc..

Hello All!

This discussion of Rear suspension geometery is great stuff!!!!

I'm currently working on turning my 76 Afetta into a track car. (I'm selling
my 330gt Ferrari to fund the project and build a new garage).

Does anyone have any recomendations for modifications to the rear suspension?
It would seem that a panhard rod or "theroetically correct" watts linkage
would be easy to fabricate. Would it be worth the effort? What about bending
the de-dion tube for more negative camber?

Last fall, at Road America, I saw a Calaway GTV6 (street car) with a vertical
steel tube running from the Watts linkage piviot point up through the trunk.
I was latter told that this was a "Zat" modification (Tom Zat) to provide
"anti-squat geometery". The steel tube appeared to be solidly mounted??????
While this modification would reduce or eliminate roll center changes it seems
that it would make the suspension travel zero? Unfortunately, I could not
find the owner of the Calaway to ask for his explanation. Any comments?

Thanks!!!
