thanks to all for the recommendations on 'murrican trucks.
the summary is that it's hard to go wrong with a ferd or chebby,
although a dodge or gmc in good shape might be worth it as well.
ferds are recommended for their reputation for being well built (tough)
& the chebbys for better handling than the fords. full size trucks are 
recommended over the little 'uns any day.

again: thanks to all & mebee soon i can get a gun rack for it ;)

(and matching pistol rack for the spider ;)
