Re: Replacing the Head Gasket on an '88 Milano

What is the logic in replacing the head gasket on only one
side of a V6 engine? If the original poster is going to
have the head(s) shaved and the guides possibly replaced,
then why wouldn't you do both heads at the same time?

If the guides/seals could stand replacement on one side, then
why not do the other side as well, as long as the car is apart?
You may wind up doing the guides on the other head anyways
in 10-20k miles.

And if you shave one head, you're going to have different sized
combustion chambers on each side.
