Did the "alpha-tech" say whether going backwards was the only solution, or
would the more sensible move the DOT 5 or even racing fluid have the same
effect?

Also, assuming the MC seals have been eaten away by the DOT 4 fluid, should
the MC be replaced anyway? - the MCs cost a lot more than $112 here in the
UK!

As you can guess, my 164 is exhibiting this exact same problem!
