"Trophaeum Club"

In AD7-233 Reid Trummel asks about the badge of the Alfa Romeo Trophaeum Club.
The USA edition of Il Quadrifoglio, which bore only a distant relationship to
the original, has in issue #15, fall 1989, an English translation of an
article by Enrico Castruccio (one of the regular contributors to the Italian
magazine) on the making of the this badge. Unfortunately it says little about
the club itself, but the thing was intended to be a grill badge. The initial
paragraph says:
"The Alfa Romeo "Trophaeum Club" is now a reality, much to the delight of
veteran Alfisti. Alfa Romeo for years has reserved special privileges for
members of this elite group, among them some very distinctive and exclusive
membership paraphernalia. A distinctive pin and an enameled badge for the
member's automobile serve to distinguish the Alfa Romeo "Champions of
Fidelity." For Trophaeum Club members, the badge is extremely important as
they believe that being an Alfa enthusiast is truly a way of life."

It then goes on for a couple of pages on the making, the workshop, (Bregonzio,
not Breganzio, it says) the craftsmen, the ratio of copper to zinc in the
base, etc. but nothing to explain how members differ from the average kid with
a clapped-out Spider. If Reid wants a photocopy of the article he can email me
a self-addressed stamped envelope- or whatever.

Chow,

John H.
