Milano v6 valve clatter revisited + Alfa danger

I recently went to fill up with gas, and they were out of regular (87
octane). I filled up with super (93 octane) and voila--no more valve
clatter noise. Coincidence or is there some explanation? I only switched
to regular because I was advised I was wasting my $ on super. Any thoughts.

Alfisti be warned-- I assume I am not alone in noticing every Alfa on the
road, parking lot, movie, magazine, etc..... Well, I didn't realize how
dangerous this can be. Two days ago I see this very nice green 164. So I
slow down, to get a better look. Nice wheels, no dings....now if I sold the
Milano I could get a 164 and BOOM. I hit the car in front of me. That
ended a rather pleasant day dream. Fortunately the Pontiac I hit was all
high impact ABS with a very nice driver who essentially "these things
happen..don't worry about it." Of course, the Milano is not all plastic,
but what plastic broke. So Alfa watching got me a rude awaking, and a $40
replacement lens bill. But it was a nice 164.
