Dear Digesters,
My understanding has always been that an automatic transmission equipped
car cannot move from standstill either forward or reverse while there is
a firm foot on the brake pedal, regardless of what the
engine/transmission may be doing - matter of physics right ?
Mind you this is merely an observation from being forced to drive
automatics by rental companies in the states.
It seems unintended acceleration victim's always claim that they were
stepping on the brake and harder when the car started moving, based on
my above assumption I had always discounted their accounts.
So, are there cars that can overpower their brakes from a standstill ?
And I am not talking about muscle cars being able to do standstill
burnouts...
