Rosso Amaranto

In AD7-050 Eric Sands asks about a factory color similar to the purple or
a'Aramanth Violet' he used on his '66.
509 is listed as 'Rosso Amaranto, amaranth' among the standard colors in
Alfa's Body Shop Manual which was published in the late sixties, and is 509
Plum on the 1972 GTV listings for both GTV and Berlina. In a later DuPont
color chart covering '70-'85 colors it shows up as "509 [DP8771] Plum 70-77"
and as "509 [D50772] '70-'77 dark maroon", suggesting that there might have
been slight variations later. There is also an ambiguous Ditzler listing I
have seen with "324/508 [D13526] Cobalt Blue, dark purple blue '67-'68", which
sounds much less likely.
