I have also done this, but also replaced the radiator, fan, and all the
assorted switches, relays, etc.  I now have a very simple circuit which
picks up the existing harness "+" connection from where the old fan
plugged, and then runs through the variable switch to the fans (2) and
back to ground.  This approach does eliminate the low-speed circuit
engagement when the A/C is turned on, but since I've got the fan switch
set to come on at about 190 F', it works just fine.

Not sure if these helps or not.  BTW, all three items are available from
Tom Zat.
