tickets to Concours F.S. and vacation report

Greetings,

Still not caught up with the digests after a 2 week vacation in
Guadeloupe (a funny butterfly-shaped French island in the West Indies).
The main purpose of this was to honeymoon with my newly found treasure,
but I did get in a trip to an Alfa dealer there. I am so glad I married
a tolerant one...

In the Point a Pitre dealership they had the 156 diesel, GTV TS, and the
146 on display alongside the fiats. The gtv in particualar, was way
nicer to see in person than in photos. I made off with a stack of
brochures, as well as a giant banner proclaiming the 156 to be the Euro
car of the year.
This last item proved problematic on the Air France flight back, nearly
getting lodged in a private area of a certain passenger who would not
control his yapping pet poodle. The staff of this airline also did not
respond to: "Could we please flush this squirrel down the toilet now!".
Fortunately, just in time, the "Tree and Stream" video (with muzak)
popped up on the overhead monitors and I was able to calm down.

The alfas on the island were limited, it was mostly populated with
peugots, citroens, and renaults. I had the misfortune of driving a
citroen xsara, which if sold in the US, would have to priced below the
korean entries. what a rattling piece of crap, particulalry the 1.4 i
got. spotted alfas were 1X 75, 2X 33s, 1 GTV. I saw no spiders, which
was a surpise in such a sunny locale. And roads there were much smoother
than in CA. Gotta love the intersection circles (roundabouts?), too. I
missed them, having grown up in Europe...

FOR SALE:

if anybody is late getting the consours italiano tickets, i seem to have
extras now (2). i will sell them at, say 80 percent face value to
someone who is willing to pick them up in the bay area (mountain view,
or san mateo). i have extra parking, too. tickets were 40 originally, i
think.

thx
luke
