FW: 156, Spider

interesting info from an email friend who was in italy recently. i found it
encouraging, cuz the recent alfa feature in european car magazine had a little
blurb about how you can't tell that the 164 is fwd from driving it. HA!!! i'm
supposed to believe that mr. mericle has never stomped on the loud pedal?!?
this talk about 164's made me a little leery of similar talk about the gnu 146 &
spider.
hoping to have the chance to find out for myself,

Doug,

I did drive 156 and Spider. No torque steer at all!!! It was like drive a rear
wheel drive car! These new cars responses very differently from the 164.
Especially the 156. The 156 even handles like rear wheel drive. The 2 cars had
2.0 twin spark 4cyl., but boy can it move! I love the new Alfas. They changed
the seating position on the new cars. On the older Alfas (even the 164) your
feet are to the right and the steering wheel is sightly to the left. Well not
anymore! They are straight ahead!!! Everything lines up!

The new 166 is due up in Sept. Check it out at www.alfaromeo.com
<http://www.alfaromeo.com> they have some cool wallpaper pics you can download
too. All Alfas that have the 3.0 V6 24 valves are now 6 speed!!! I wish they
would bring them in here! Or I'll just have to move to Italy!

Alan
