Exploding fans and learning lessons

Fred,

I'm one of those inexperienced owners who asked for advice, which
prompted Mr. Gowin's response.  Is there something in particular I
should be looking for, which may have caused the explosion of MY fan?  I
remember seeing a thread about it, and just assumed it was a "normal",
fatigue-related failure.  Is it likely that there's more to it in my
case (i.e., broken motor mounts)?  What should I do to check?
