164 dadhboard oil level light

I almost hate to waste the Digest's bandwith on a minor problem like this
so I'll be quick. The oil level warning light on my 164 has come on for
no reason. I'm embarrased to say I did let it get a quart low (half way
between marks on the dipstick) but topping it off hasn't pleased the
warning light. How do I extinguish the darn thing? I hope this doesn't
call for a trip to a computer equipped garage for a reset. While I'm
thinking about it would Fred or someone who knows repost the steps
involved in getting the car's computer to spill its stored error codes
and how to decipher the codes? Something like turn the key, step on the
gas for a while, pat your head, rub your tummy...

Thanks folks,
