spider trans bearing

hi,
        the front input bearing in my 79 spider is noisy. has anybody
replaced one? do you have to dissasemble the whole trans? by the way, it
shifts real well, so i wasnt planning on rebuilding. i'd would just let it
make noise, but it is kinda loud.
