In the US, Alfas were imported to New Jersey or California.  However, in
1969 the only models Alfa brought here were the 1750 Spica injected Spider,
GTV, and Berlina.  Not the GT Junior.

I'd guess that your car came in through California, maybe the New Jersey
reference was in error?
