[alfa] 164 24V No Starts
Recent posts on 24V no starts reminded me of a particular problem that I
know of exists in at least 6 cars ; intermittent no-starts. All but one of
the cars eventually starts and it doesn;t seem to be temperature related
(ie hot or cold no difference). Symptoms are - car cranks over fine,
sounds great, never fires. Wait 3-5-10 minutes, and it starts and runs
great. No codes logged. Batteries and Temp sensors replaced and wiring
checked. ECU swapped out on 2 of them, problem persists. Alarm ECU checked
and wiring verifed from Alarm ECU to motronic ecu. Angle sensor replaced
on one. I have disconnected the battery on mine to see if a 'hard reset'
of the ECU fixes it-- doesn;t seem to. Fuel pressure checked with
external regulator on one, holds fuel pressure fine after shut-down. One
of these cars (doesn't start AT ALL) was looked at for 4 hours by the
ex-dealer who basically gave up. Car has been in limbo now 8 months - wont
start.
Sorry to throw such a wide net out but we are stumped! I even waved an old
vermouth cork over mine while humming Hail to the Chief and that hasn;t
helped.
Anyone I don;t know having this problem?
Ideas?
TIA bob
