Why not just take the old one apart and clean-up the contacts and put it back together. I did this about 8 years ago on my 91 spider and it still worked when I sold it a couple weeks ago.
 
It's eay to get apart, but hard to get back together. In mine there was a cross + with  piramid (sic) shaped contacts that contains springs. After cleaning up th econtacts i packed the houseing with di-electric grease to hold the contacts in place while a assembled the top. This is a trick I learned when working on outboard motors that had needle bearing in them.
