Hi all,

400kg of engine, tranny, other parts, from Milan Italy on to Genova, by boat
to New York and then train to Chicago was 240 Euro. HOWEVER, I then got hit
with all sorts of b.s. fees on this end - terminal fees of $100, broker fees
($90 PER shipment, so ammortize over a big shipment if you can), and other
stuff I cannot recall, as well as a nominal amount for taxes. I ended up
spending $350 on this end. Shipping was a fixed cost per 100kg of weight.
Taxes were per 100kg also.

In a happier note, I shipped a 97 lb alfa V6 transmission from Fremont, CA to
Phoenix, AZ for $51 with FedEx ground. They will take up to 150 lb if shipped
to a business address. Tranny under 100 lbs, means that it can also be brought
on a plane from overseas if you pay the extra luggage fee (probably not worth
it though as they charga a bundle).

I've had good luck shipping bumpers within the U.S. on greyhound IL to WA for
$55 for a front bumper of a 164. Buyer picks up the box at the greyhound
station a couple days later.

Cars from Antwerp Belgium to the New York are $1200 one way. Milan to New York
$2000.

Shipping 164's from central IL to Fremont, CA cost me $725 westbound, but cost
my friend $800+ eastbound. I guess that means there is more demand for
saltless CA cars being shipped back east :)
