Brian,

Had similar problems on an L and an S.  On the L, the ground strap was the
problem.  Try ground directly from the alternator to the chaisis.  On the S,
some of the instruments would go; problem was a loose connection at the
ignition switch.  You can remove the lower shroud and observe an obvious
disconnected wire or jiggle a little to see if that affects your display.
